Location: London (Hybrid, 3 days in office)

A highly regarded and well-established law firm is looking for an experienced solicitor to join its expanding public procurement and commercial contracts team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on a wide variety of complex and high-profile matters, providing expert advice to a diverse range of clients across the public and private sectors.

The Team:  

The solicitor will join a dedicated Projects Team, part of the wider Real Estate and Projects division. The team advises on a broad range of transactions, including public procurement, joint ventures, public-private partnerships, and IT contracts. The role provides an opportunity to work closely with key clients, offering expert legal support in procurement matters, commercial contracts, and related areas.

Key Responsibilities:  

- Provide expert legal advice on public procurement matters for contracting authorities.  

- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including goods and services agreements, IT supply contracts, and PFI/PPP agreements.  

- Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and updates.  

- Manage files and projects independently, ensuring deadlines and client expectations are met.  

- Contribute to the firm’s business development and marketing initiatives to expand the client base.  

- Ensure compliance with relevant legal standards, including LEXCEL and Solicitor’s Accounts Rules.  

- Maintain well-organised and accurate client files both electronically and in hard copy format.

About You:  

- 3+ years PQE as a solicitor with a focus on public procurement and commercial contracts.  

- In-depth knowledge of UK public procurement legislation, with a strong understanding of the Procurement Act 2023 and relevant secondary legislation.  

- Experience advising contracting authorities, either in private practice or through an in-house role.  

- Strong drafting, communication, and negotiation skills.  

- A high level of commercial awareness and attention to detail, ensuring work is consistently delivered to a high standard.  

- The ability to manage a demanding caseload and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.  

- A flexible approach to work and the ability to adapt to changing client needs and priorities.  

- A strong academic background, ideally with a 2:1 degree or equivalent, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related software.  

- Advantageous: experience advising on public subsidy issues and IT contracts.
