Role: Pensions Lawyer (Employment, Pensions, and Remuneration)

The Opportunity: We are seeking a Pensions Lawyer to join our client's Employment, Pensions, and Remuneration (EPI) team. The successful candidate will be involved in corporate, advisory, and litigation aspects relating to pensions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise employers, trustees, financial institutions, intermediaries, governmental bodies, and bidders and sellers on all aspects of occupational and personal pension arrangements.
  • Provide both domestic and cross-border pensions expertise.
  • Offer a full range of legal services in relation to pension schemes, including specialist support on transactions, litigation, and insolvency matters.
  • Advise on funding deficits in defined benefit schemes and challenges arising from increased costs.
  • Manage risk and volatility through benefit design and insured solutions.
  • Handle pension scheme reorganizations, mergers, and wind-ups.
  • Consult with professional and regulatory bodies on public/private sector pensions issues.
  • Engage in a substantial cross-departmental pensions disputes practice.
  • Deliver first-rate legal advice and suggest practical solutions to clients' problems.

Client Portfolio: Key clients include G4S, TimeWarner, TUI Travel, Pensions Insurance Corporation, Pension Protection Fund, and Lloyds Banking Group. Our client has sector expertise in accountancy, professional and business services, infrastructure and transport, financial institutions, insurance and reinsurance, and TMT.

Candidate Profile:

  • Exceptional academic background with at least a 2:1 degree classification.
  • Post-qualification experience in a broad range of pensions work, gained at a City or regional firm with a recognized pensions practice.
  • Proven ability to lead on matters and contribute to team management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to provide practical solutions to complex issues.

This role is pensions-specific, and candidates will not be required to lead on employment or employee remuneration and incentive matters.
