A leading law firm is expanding its successful Construction team in Southampton, offering legal opportunities for professionals ranging from NQ to 8PQE levels. The team is part of a top-ranked Real Estate department, known for its commercial expertise and technical proficiency. The Southampton office plays a key role in the firm’s growth strategy, collaborating seamlessly with other offices. This provides a dynamic, supportive environment where team members can work on major national and international construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Advising on commercial construction matters, including consultant appointments, building contracts, warranties, and experience with JCT, NEC, or FIDIC.
• Drafting and negotiating construction documents such as letters of intent, novation agreements, performance bonds, and guarantees.
• Engaging in development projects and Real Estate transactions, collaborating with property, planning, corporate, finance, litigation, and tax teams.
• Building and nurturing client relationships to become a trusted adviser.
• Managing a personal portfolio of matters and providing clear, practical, and concise legal advice to clients.
Required Qualifications
• A minimum of 1PQE or significant paralegal experience with a strong interest in construction law.
• Proven expertise in commercial construction law, including knowledge of key construction documents and processes.
• For more senior candidates, the firm welcomes those with significant experience or those looking to transition from a City role or return to the profession.
• A passion for construction law and delivering excellent client service.
