The Opportunity: Join our client's ambitious Competition team, where you can take ownership of your career and have honest conversations throughout. They are seeking an enterprising Associate with extensive UK and EU competition law experience who enjoys leading on cases and driving forward business development ideas. You will receive early responsibility and involvement in growing the business within a supportive and collaborative culture that values performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clear, concise, and unambiguous preparation and drafting of competition documentation.
  • Conduct legal research using internal and external knowledge management resources.
  • Assist in the preparation of legal articles.
  • Liaise with clients under the supervision of a partner.
  • Develop a network of internal and external contacts.
  • Build excellent working relationships with clients and peers within the firm.
  • Attend business development and profile-raising events (client seminars, graduate recruitment activities).

Candidate Profile:

  • Extensive experience in merger control and foreign direct investment rules, cartel and abuse of dominance investigations, dawn raids and competition law compliance, market studies and investigations, and state aid and subsidy control.
  • Interest in or experience with CMA consumer protection cases.
  • EEA qualification is desirable.
  • Ability to acquire, consolidate, and apply fundamental and up-to-date knowledge of the law.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work to strict deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and numerical communication skills and good housekeeping/file management practices.
  • Resilient, cooperative, and collaborative, able to handle setbacks and pressure.
  • Proactive, professional, and self-aware, with a commitment to self-development.
  • Commercially aware with an understanding of the firm’s market position and differentiation.
  • Excellent academic and professional qualifications.
